Location: Hawaii

Salary Range: $65,000 – $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Position Overview

The HR Generalist plays a critical role in supporting the overall HR operations, including recruiting, onboarding,
benefits administration, employee relations, and performance management across multiple locations.
Reporting to the CEO, the HR Generalist will collaborate with leadership teams to ensure compliance with HR
policies and regulations, facilitate employee development, and foster a positive workplace culture to drive
employee engagement and retention.

Responsibilities

Onboarding, Transfers, and Offboarding

  • Facilitate the full employee onboarding process, including conducting orientation sessions, ensuring
    completion of handbook and policy acknowledgments, and guiding new hires through the benefits
    enrollment process.
  • Coordinate transportation, logistics, and housing for employee relocations, as necessary.
    Oversee offboarding processes to ensure accurate final payments, return of company property, and
  • Conduct thorough exit interviews to gather feedback for future improvements.
  • Provide senior management with actionable insights and recommendations based on exit interviews
    and employee feedback.

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks,
    ensuring accurate and timely enrollment, changes, and terminations.
  • Verify benefits billings for accuracy and coordinate with vendors for payment processing.
  • Collaborate with benefits providers on open enrollment periods, plan updates, and benefit education for
    employees.

Recruiting and Staffing

  • Partner with hiring managers, external recruiters, and job websites to attract a diverse pool of qualified
    candidates.
  • Manage the recruitment process, including creating job descriptions, posting openings, screening
    resumes, conducting interviews, and extending offers.
  • Oversee background checks and ensure compliance with relevant hiring regulations.

HR Policy and Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, state,
    and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Regularly update the employee handbook to reflect current practices and legal requirements.
  • Recommend and implement revisions to HR policies to enhance employee experience, engagement,
    and retention.

Employee Relations

  • Act as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries, concerns, and complaints.
  • Investigate and resolve workplace issues, providing guidance to management on appropriate actions.
  • Develop and manage employee recognition programs that promote a positive work environment and
    acknowledge outstanding performance.

Payroll Coordination

  • Address and resolve employee payroll and benefits-related inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.
    Performance Management
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team to implement and manage a structured performance review
    process.
  • Develop evaluation criteria and benchmarks for employee performance.
  • Process salary adjustments, promotions, and other payroll changes, ensuring accurate record-keeping
    and compliance with company policies.

Employee Development and Credential Management

  • Identify training and professional development opportunities that support employee growth and align with
    organizational needs.
  • Manage the tracking of employee credentials, certifications, and required compliance training.
  • Support field crews by coordinating travel, accommodations, and relocation as needed, particularly for
    projects requiring military base access.

Event Planning and Employee Engagement

  • Plan and execute employee events, including company-wide celebrations, team-building activities, and
    recognition events.
  • Coordinate employee birthday and work anniversary celebrations to foster a positive work culture.
    Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure HR compliance with multi-state and federal employment regulations.
  • Research and resolve HR issues related to international assignments or employees working overseas.
    Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a generalist HR role, including experience in recruiting,
    benefits administration, and employee relations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or a related field
    preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations at both the state and federal level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-service-oriented approach.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive employee issues with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment.
  • Proactive problem solver who can balance empathy for employees with organizational needs.
